Inspired by that legendary scene from 1953’s “How To Marry A Millionaire,” where Marilyn Monroe makes very clear to all that men definitely will make passes at girls that wear glasses, Akoni’s new Venus frame channels that Hollywood icon’s incomparable mix of bright pop effervescence and singular sensuality into an exciting new twist on the classic cat-eye. Japanese artisans have given perfect curves to the silhouette, via expertly carved sculptural acetate — and a mid-century pop-art aesthetic is evident, with boldly colored enamel outlines and repeating dot-matrix patterns pressed into custom titanium rims.
