Kuboraum Mask A5 Sunglasses — Berlin Avant-Garde Sculptural Eyewear

Kuboraum doesn't make glasses. They make masks.

Founded in 2012 in Berlin by Italian designers Livio Graziottin and Sergio Eusebi, Kuboraum builds eyewear as identity — sculptural, intentionally over-scaled, hand-cut from premium Italian acetate. Each frame is a stage for the face beneath it, not a retreat from it.

The Mask Philosophy

Eyewear as transformation

Most eyewear hides. Kuboraum reveals. The brand's founders trained in fashion, set design, and sculpture before turning to optics — and that pedigree is everywhere in the work. Frames are oversized on purpose. Bridges sit lower than convention says they should. Lens shapes are geometric extremes — perfect circles, hard hexagons, softened squares.

The result is a piece of eyewear that performs the same function as a Venetian half-mask or a Noh theatre prop: it transforms the face into a character. Wear them and you become someone — not someone else, but more of yourself. That's the whole brief.

The Craft

Hand-finished in northeastern Italy

Every Kuboraum frame is hand-cut and hand-polished in a small atelier in northeastern Italy. The acetate is sourced from Mazzucchelli, the same century-old supplier used by the most prestigious independent eyewear houses. Each frame moves through dozens of finishing stages — slow tumbling, hand sanding, multi-step polishing — before its hinges and metalwork are set.

A single Mask K19 takes roughly three weeks from raw acetate sheet to finished frame. Production runs are intentionally limited; some references retire after a single small batch. If you find a Kuboraum reference you love, the rule is to buy it — there is no guarantee it will be made again.

Materials & Construction

Premium Italian Mazzucchelli acetate · Pure titanium and stainless-steel cores on metal references · Custom Carl Zeiss optical-quality lenses on the M-Series sun masks · Hypoallergenic, prescription-ready · Each frame numbered and signed by the production atelier.

Yes. Gazal Eyecare is an authorized dealer for every brand we carry — Jacques Marie Mage, Lindberg, Kuboraum, Akoni, Anne et Valentin, Thierry Lasry, Maui Jim, and our house brand Gazal Eyewear. Every frame is 100% authentic and sourced directly, with full manufacturer support.

All sales are final and we do not offer monetary refunds — many of our pieces are one-of-a-kind or very small production. Eligible items can be returned for store credit: within 3 days of delivery for shipped orders, or 3 days of purchase in store. Items must be unworn and in original condition with the original case and packaging. Store credit never expires; once a store credit has been used, that purchase is final.

Shipping is calculated at checkout. Orders ship the day they're ready and most domestic orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Pre-orders and special orders take longer — for example, a LINDBERG color combination we order for you typically takes 4–5 weeks just to arrive from LINDBERG, before any lens work. Frames with custom prescription lenses ship once your lenses are finished.

Yes, we ship worldwide, though we can't guarantee international delivery times — they depend on each country's postal handling and customs. All duties, taxes, and import fees are the customer's responsibility.

Yes — that's our specialty. Our in-house lens studio cuts single vision, progressive, polarized, photochromic, and custom-tinted lenses, including for challenging shapes like Kuboraum sculptural frames and ultra-thin Lindberg titanium.

Email, text, or call us — whatever is easiest. We do need a copy of the prescription, and a clear photo sent by email or text works perfectly.

Single vision about 1 week, progressives about 2 weeks, custom tints add 1 week, and specialty lenses (high-curve, photochromic, polarized) take 2–3 weeks.
