J.Dean — Racing-Inspired Square Sunglasses by Gazal Eyewear

J.Dean Rainbow Sunglasses by Gazal Eyewear — Square Acetate with Sterling Silver Lotus

J.Dean

Lotus Collection · $695

Some frames are designed on a screen. The J.Dean was designed from a feeling.

Inspired by vintage photos of James Dean leaning against his Porsche 550 Spyder — square, bold, unapologetic. Handcrafted in Japan with genuine sterling silver lotus flowers in every temple tip.

The Story

Gazal, the designer behind Gazal Eyewear, has always been drawn to the intersection of speed and style. Long before she designed eyewear, she was building cars — pulling engines, upgrading suspensions, and racing on weekends. That mechanical precision, that refusal to settle for "close enough," carried directly into how she approaches frame design.

The J.Dean began with a photograph. James Dean, leaning against a Porsche 550 Spyder, sunglasses catching the California light. There was something about the way his frames sat — square, bold, unapologetic — that felt like it belonged on someone who understood machines and momentum. Gazal started sketching immediately.

Sterling Silver Details

J.Dean Sterling Silver Lotus Flower Temple Detail — Genuine Silver Hand-Set

Every J.Dean frame features genuine sterling silver lotus flowers hand-set into each temple tip. Not plated. Not decorative stickers. Real silver, finished by hand — a detail most people will never notice, but the wearer always feels.

The Racing Connection

James Dean wasn’t just an actor who wore sunglasses. He was a driver. He raced competitively, studied mechanics, and understood machines the way most people understand conversation — instinctively. That same energy runs through Gazal’s work. Before she ever touched a frame, she was underneath a car, hands covered in grease, learning how parts fit together.

Every curve, every angle, every weight distribution choice on the J.Dean was made the way a racer sets up a car — nothing wasted, nothing arbitrary, everything in service of how it performs on your face.

All sales are final and we do not offer monetary refunds — many of our pieces are one-of-a-kind or very small production. Eligible items can be returned for store credit: within 3 days of delivery for shipped orders, or 3 days of purchase in store. Items must be unworn and in original condition with the original case and packaging. Store credit never expires; once a store credit has been used, that purchase is final.

Shipping is calculated at checkout. Orders ship the day they're ready and most domestic orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Pre-orders and special orders take longer — for example, a LINDBERG color combination we order for you typically takes 4–5 weeks just to arrive from LINDBERG, before any lens work. Frames with custom prescription lenses ship once your lenses are finished.
