Malakeh — Oversized Square Eyewear Inspired by Tyler Perry's Madea | Gazal

Malakeh
Lotus Collection · From $695
Malakeh means “queen” in Farsi. This frame was born from a collaboration that started on a film set and ended in Gazal’s design studio.
Oversized, bold, and unmistakably confident. Sculptural titanium temples with hand-engraved patterns and genuine sterling silver lotus accents.
From Film Set to Collection
The Malakeh started with a phone call from Tyler Perry’s production team. They needed custom eyeglasses for one of the most recognizable characters in American cinema — Mabel “Madea” Simmons. The glasses had to be oversized, vintage-inspired, and instantly iconic on screen.
Gazal designed and handcrafted the frames that would become Madea’s signature pink vintage eyeglasses. Tyler Perry loved the fit, the comfort, and the quality. What started as a production commission became a genuine creative relationship.
Gazal Eyewear — custom eyeglasses designed for Tyler Perry’s “Madea” character.
As seen on the Madea television series.
After wrapping production, Gazal couldn’t stop thinking about the silhouette. The oversized square shape had a presence that demanded attention — the kind of frame that makes people look twice. She brought it back to the studio with a question: what if this shape existed in the Lotus Collection?
The Malakeh is the answer. The same bold proportions, reimagined with sculptural titanium temples, mono-block hinges engraved with the Lotus flower emblem, and genuine sterling silver accents. Not a costume piece — a luxury frame with a story most people will never know.

The Design
The Malakeh introduces a mono-block hinge — a single piece of titanium that serves as both the structural joint and a canvas for Gazal’s signature lotus engraving. The sculptural titanium temples feature a hand-engraved pattern that catches light differently depending on the angle, ending in sleek acetate temple tips for all-day comfort.
Every frame in the Lotus Collection carries genuine sterling silver lotus flowers at the temple tips. On the Malakeh, the silver sits against the bold titanium architecture like jewelry against skin — subtle, intentional, and unmistakably real.
